Courses

FAJ is dedicated to increasing the knowledge and skills of administrative justice decision makers.  FAJ offers ten different courses on its regular schedule comprising over 31 days of training.  We currently offer regular training in western & northern Canada.

In order to achieve the ABC’s of ABC’s, an emphasis must be placed on recruitment, performance evaluation, and training of those who are destined to play a significant role in our public sector governance process.  … There should be a continual program to enhance the knowledge of board members.  Comments from The ABCs of ABCs by Auditor General Peter Valentine January 2000

FAJ offers the most comprehensive local training available for:

  • Chairs, vice-chairs, adjudicators, members of administrative tribunals, boards, agencies and commissions
  • Adjudicators and arbitrators for professional, police, education and health appeal and discipline tribunals or committees
  • Tribunal and commission counsel
  • City or municipal councilors and others who sit on decision making committees
  • Arbitrators
  • Individuals who wish to sit on tribunals or decision making bodies.

In 2009 FAJ launched its "Certificate in Tribunal Administrative Justice".

FAJ also provides custom training.  Please click on the custom training link to learn more about this.

Many tribunals have now adopted policies or practices to train all their new board members and staff at FAJ courses.  Others look for FAJ training when they are recruiting.
